Pharrell Williams has redefined what it means to be cool. He’s known to use his music, fashion and design to create and express his individual style. Pharrell has done just about everything in the music business; he’s been a producer, a singer-songwriter, and even a rapper.

He formed the band The Neptunes with his schoolfriend Chad Hugo and two of their other friends. The Neptunes would go on to become a production company, receiving worldwide success for their work on I’m a Slave 4 U by Britney Spears.

Pharrell would continue to create his own music through his new band N*E*R*D, which also contained members of his old band The Neptunes. Pharrell would win two Grammies in 2004; one for “Producer of the Year, Non-Classical” and a “Best Pop Vocal Album” Grammy for his appearance on Justified by Justin Timberlake.

Williams continues to achieve success; his most notable recent achievements including being the composer to the soundtrack to the Despicable Me movies. He almost won an Academy Award for the song Happy from Despicable Me 2 but lost out to Let It Go from the movie Frozen.

    1. Hi Nick – thanks for the feedback. I am an artist myself and thought I would have loved to have a site like this to refer to for recommendations on specialised creative books.
